What Are the Symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer?

Pancreatic cancer occurs in a person when an uncontrollable cell growth starts in the pancreas. This cell growth causes lumps, which turn into tumors and divert the pancreas from its tasks. This type of cancer is probably the worst to have, mainly because it is very hard to diagnose pancreatic cancer symptoms.

This form of cancer is often termed as a silent death, because pancreatic cancer symptoms do not appear until the condition is at a later or advanced stage. The more advance the stage of this cancer, the less possibility of survival and treatment options.

pancreatic cancer symptomsSome of the most commonly faced pancreatic cancer symptoms are as follows; yellowing or eye or skin, rapid weight loss, abdominal pain, nausea, low appetite, unexpected diabetes, change in color of stool and urine and itchy skin. People who are suffering from pancreatic cancer often tend to have yellow eyes or skin color. This is when the tumor in the pancreas blocks the bile duct; the bile duct is responsible for carrying bile from the liver to the intestine. The bile contains a chemical called bilirubin (yellow in color), which must be removed from the body by the liver.

Pancreatic cancer can also cause pain and discomfort in the patients’ abdomen. This pain initially, may come and go but as the cancer progresses the pain will also become more consistent and worse. Many people have reported that this sort of pain also travels to the back leaving their body completely aching.

Pancreatic cancer patients also tend to suffer from vomiting or nausea at various times of the day. However, because this condition occurs in many other illnesses it is often overlooked and not taken very seriously. Reports confirm that pancreatic cancer patients do suffer from this symptom too.

People may also suffer from unintended weight loss; this is one of the very first few pancreatic cancer symptoms that occur. When people face unintended weight loss, it is often their body’s way of signaling that something is wrong. Pancreatic cancer also has the ability to produce insulin, and cause diabetes in patients.

Patients have also reported a change in their stool and urine color, most have stated that the urine becomes darker while their stool tends to lose its usual color. Stool tends to also have an odd sort of smell; this is because the bile duct is blocked. And lastly, some people have reported to have an itchy skin.

The main problem with the above pancreatic cancer symptoms is that some of them are very vague and often occur in many other diseases, thus they are confused with other diseases. This confusion leads to a delay in the whole diagnosing process causing the cancer to worsen. Therefore, in case people begin to experience any of the above pancreatic cancer symptoms, they are advised to seek professional advice immediately.

Research shows, that pancreatic cancer is rare however that does not mean that it cannot happen. Pancreatic cancer symptoms may not even show until it is too late; therefore, any single pancreatic cancer symptoms experienced are not to be taken lightly.
